Buehler's has been an "up and running" Farm and Guest House since it was built in 1885. Right after it was built, it burned to the ground - so they rebuilt it immediately and opened right up for guests and farm help. There have been horses, cows, sheep, chickens, dogs and cats here. We now just keep 6 Rhode Island Reds and a dog. |
| The Farm and Guest House(s) are tucked back in the woods 1 mile back a stone road on 50 acres. Mrs. Buehler is still alive and ownes a total of approx 300 acres, including the farm. Mark and I (Mary) now run the "farm" for Mrs. B. We have an old barn with those 2 retired horses, a tennis court, a basketball hoop, an inground swimming pool, a big pond for fishing, canoeing, rowing, and paddle boating, a big campfire pit for guests to build fires (down by the pond) and a game room (for rainy days) that has a fire place, ping pong, table shuffle board, card tables, tv/dvd player, and a refrigerator/ microwave/bar area for any snacks/drinks you choose to bring.
The main farm house has a nice living room with a fire place, a small library, the dining room, and 8 guest rooms. We also have what's called the Spring House which was built in the 1958 (same time as the "Game Room") and it has 5 guest rooms. The rooms are very basic - no tv, radio, alarm clock. We ring a rising bell in the morning and bells at meal times - the same as it's been done for years. The bathrooms are shared. The meals are great. Mark (my husband) went to culinary school and worked in the field for 15 years ... (start any planned diet AFTER your vacation). I grow most of the vegetables and herbs Mark uses for meals. I also make desserts and homemade breads for the meals daily. |

| If I haven't sold you on Buehler's yet, let me say that I believe that back here is a piece of heaven on earth. It's beautiful and for some reason, very calming. It's an easy place to sit and feel peace. |
|
| We are open Mother's Day Weekend until Halloween Weekend. Weekends are Friday dinner (6pm) to Sunday (1pm) dinner. Our summer schedule begins during the last week of June and goes until Labor Day Weekend. Then we're open all week - Sunday 5pm cookout - Sunday 8:30am breakfast. |
|
| Most of our guests are returning guests of generations. Some weeks we have big families having reunions and some weeks we have a few different families rejoining for the first time since the previous year at Buehler's.
